The sun was out ready on opening day at SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week (SMIRW) and the breeze was piping in nice and early for Tropic Petroleum Race Day and competitors couldn’t wait to get on the waters off Maggie Island for an 11am start.

Waldringfield Sailing Club, on Suffolk’s River Deben, throws open its Cadet Week for another year this Friday, with four days of racing, socialising and messing about on the water for the junior double-handed class.

After four days of easterlies, it was a return to classic Poole Week conditions on the Thursday of Poole Week 2026: warm sun and a brisk south-westerly blowing across the harbour.
