Whilst there was a lack of wind when 25 sailors started rigging their Streakers at Up River YC, a breeze soon filled in for the inaugural Streaker open meeting. After a briefing on the eccentricities of sailing on the River Crouch, the fleet launched.

Four local boats and three visitors competed for the Enterprise Hampton Cup and the final of the Thames Valley River Series combined with the Comet Versa Open in which seven competed, crewed by a great mix of young and old with ages ranging from 3 to 78!

Day 4 delivered a true test of skill and stamina, with two full-length races sailed in a building northwesterly breeze ranging from 10 to 16 knots, and a choppy sea state that, at times, became very demanding for the fleet of 101 teams.

Day Three in Vilamoura brought a test of patience and skill for the fleet. With the breeze slow to settle, sailors spent time on the water surrounded by the stunning seascape of Vilamoura before conditions improved enough to start racing.

The Mistral dominated racing today, blowing at an average of 23-24 knots, with gusts reaching 30 knots and more. The Race Committee initially set the fleet a 35-mile coastal course, later shortened to 21 miles due to the increasingly strong winds.
