Whitsunday Sailing Club (WSC) has been working hard to provide a memorable experience for all at its 37th edition of Airlie Beach Race Week (ABRW), this year sponsored by 74 Islands Distillery and to be held from 7-14 August.

A luxuriously late start time of 09.30 on a good height tide allowed a fleet of mainly single handed classes, OK’s, Lasers, Lightnings, one Topper, one Twinkle Twelve (being sailed single handed), an Enterprise and a Sharpie to race.

A remarkable 28 Supernovas arrived at Girton Sailing Club over the weekend of 26/27 July. The Saturday was given over to training and the correct application of coloured tape all excellently delivered by Matt Thursfield.

Race Officer Arky called a second briefing to discuss how late into the evening he was prepared to race. However fortunately as the briefing was happening, the wind-searching RIB reported 5Kts in the bay and we were off with 50 boats quickly in the water.

The fifth day of the 2025 iQFOiL Youth & Junior World Championships finally brought the conditions everyone was waiting for in the Bay of Brest.
