Welshman Micky Beckett secured his third world championship medal with bronze in Dublin Bay, as the British Sailing Team placed three athletes in the top 10 in a standout display of depth at the 2026 ILCA 7 world championships.

Day 4 of SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week (SMIRW) was a 22nm Magnetic Island & Bay Rock Race for most, except SeaLink Spinnaker Divisions 3 and 4, the Non-Spinnaker and Multihull divisions did the slightly shorter Round Magnetic Island Race.

The participants’ enthusiasm has rubbed off on the organisers: “a magnificent regatta”, “a demanding and varied course”, “a challenge we can only recommend” were the comments from the sailors at the finish line.

Solway Yacht Club’s Open Meeting for ILCA dinghies was held over the weekend of 29th and 30th August 2026. On Saturday young sailors from all over Scotland and the north of England joined ten ILCA sailors from SYC to comprise a highly competitive fleet.

Following a superb 90th Anniversary Burton dinner at the Sussex Yacht Club, and with squally weather overnight, crews arrived ready for another day of exciting sailing.

The Northern ILCA circuit’s Grand Prix series returned to Leigh & Lowton Sailing Club for the Northern Championship, sailed as part of the club’s regatta weekend on Pennington Flash.

Three days of very close racing, excellent race management, challenging P courses, good socials and the final outcome determined on the second last leg of the eight race series. It does not get better!

Sailing really became part of Geoff Catt’s life around 1990 when he joined the crew of a racing yacht at the CYC of South Australia – this continued for over 10 years and involved many local races including the Adelaide to Port Lincoln Race each year.
